NYFE Summary

The Cass family chose a prefabricated design meant to make carefully planned houses less expensive to build. Components arrived by truck from Wisconsin and were assembled on the sloping site. The house took its name from a large copper beech that once grew in the front yard.

Its low roof, horizontal bands and narrow upper windows show how the design emphasized long, low lines. The L-shaped plan follows the hillside, with larger expanses of glass facing the rear.
