Baisley Park
Baisley Pond Park connects a former millpond and water-supply site with recreation and wildlife. The pond, a mastodon play sculpture and the sports areas offer different ways to use the park. The surrounding mapped residential area is larger than the park itself.

Understanding Baisley Park
Farmers dammed streams to power a grain mill here in the 18th century. The pond later served Brooklyn's water-supply system. Workers found mastodon remains while dredging.
Public housing added another layer to the area’s development. NYCHA’s official map lists the Baisley Park housing development as completed in 1961. That residential history is separate from the older millpond, waterworks and recreation landscape.
The neighborhood’s public library is also changing. QPL broke ground on its Sutphin Boulevard renovation in 2025. The design reuses the circular courtyard for a children’s area and plans a new Foch Boulevard entrance.
