Bay Ridge
Bay Ridge combines harbor views with limestone row houses and a very different stone cottage. Use the waterfront, Doctors’ Row and the Jones House to understand how a farming district became a residential neighborhood.

Understanding Bay Ridge
The ridge beside the Narrows gave Bay Ridge its name. Waterfront estates and resorts preceded the denser neighborhood that grew with better transit. The houses on Doctors’ Row show that change at the scale of one block.
Places to explore
Shore Road Promenade and Veterans Memorial Pier
Bay Ridge waterfrontChoose the waterfront for views of New York Harbor and the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The pier is also a NYC Ferry landing. Check the ferry operator’s current timetable before making it part of the journey.
Doctors’ Row
Bay Ridge Parkway between Fourth and Fifth avenuesLook along the continuous roof cornices and repeated limestone fronts. Doctors historically combined homes and basement practices here. These occupied buildings are an exterior streetscape stop.
Howard E. and Jessie Jones House
8200 Narrows AvenueThe rough stone and curved roof imitate a rural cottage. Look for the large chimney and handmade-looking surfaces that distinguish it from the nearby rows. The designation report establishes architecture, not public interior entry.
Planning a visit
The R train serves Bay Ridge. Confirm current service and the approach to the waterfront or building you choose.
These selections combine outdoor views with occupied residential buildings. No checked step-free route between them is established.
