Claremont Village-Claremont

Claremont Village sits beside a former estate park. Claremont Park's hill landscape and a documented community-arts project show different layers of the area's history.

Understanding Claremont Village-Claremont

The park formed part of the Morris family’s land. Elliott and Anna Zborowski built the Claremont mansion in 1859, with lawns descending toward Mill Brook, now Webster Avenue. The mansion is gone; the terrain remains the useful connection to that history.

A municipal report documents Claremont Illuminated, a partnership between the Bronx Documentary Center and the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice. The project used media and projections in community spaces.
