Hollis
Connect Hollis’s Run-DMC history with a meal at Datz Deli on Hollis Avenue. The street co-name recalls a specific musical community, while the deli’s Mac Patty offers a current family-business food stop.
Understanding Hollis
NYC Tourism's 2023 Queens hip-hop guide describes Run-DMC gathering on 203rd Street in Hollis during the 1980s. The group's local origin is part of the neighborhood's cultural history.
The same guide records Art1 creating a Jam Master Jay mural at Hollis Avenue and 205th Street in 2003 and the corner's co-naming as Run-DMC JMJ Way in 2009. Jay, the group's DJ, was killed in 2002.
Owner Joshua Dat describes opening Datz Deli with his father and building its menu around the Mac Patty, macaroni and cheese inside a patty. His family account connects an operating Hollis food stop with a small family business.

Hollis Avenue at 205th StreetRead the street co-name as a public commemoration of the group. The 2023 official guide also documents a Jam Master Jay mural here. Treat it as a street-side historical reference, with no promise that the artwork is unchanged or that a museum or guided program operates at the corner.
