Rego Park
Rego Park's public places connect a family burial ground, a former veterans' hall and a shopping complex. Choose a recreation-center session at Lost Battalion Hall, an outdoor look at Remsen's memorial garden or a visit to Rego Center.

Understanding Rego Park
Lost Battalion Hall was constructed in 1939 for veterans’ organizations. The city transferred it to Parks in 1960 and converted it to recreation use. A surviving WPA mural recalls its origins. The city also records the Knicks using it as an auxiliary practice facility in the 1960s.
Remsen Cemetery preserves a much earlier layer than Rego Park’s twentieth-century buildings. LPC identifies it as a small family burial ground with surviving markers dated between 1790 and 1819. It commemorates the Remsen family, including Revolutionary War colonel Jeromus Remsen; First World War memorial figures added another period of remembrance.
