Soundview-Clason Point

Soundview and Clason Point share this southern Bronx map area. The two creeks and riverfront parks help explain the peninsula’s geography and its change from farms and marshes to a residential neighborhood.

Understanding Soundview-Clason Point

Pugsley Creek carried supplies for local farms before filling and twentieth-century infrastructure shortened it. Preserved parkland now marks part of that older water system.

Soundview Park began with marshland acquired in 1937 and was enlarged through filling and later park development. The neighborhood name helped replace an earlier proposed park name.

Places to explore

  • Pugsley Creek Park

    Creek-side natural area

Choose the preserved creek landscape and use designated paths. Its history helps orient the visitor between Clason Point and Castle Hill without inventing a route along undeveloped shore.

  • Clason Point Park

Cornell and Soundview avenues at Westchester Creek

Choose the park for a waterfront pause at its listed location. Check current Parks information before planning a longer shoreline walk.

  • Soundview Park

Nearby, at the Bronx River mouth

This separate mapped park extends the visit toward the river. Choose its public parkland while keeping current facilities, notices and any organized activity separate from the historical marsh-and-fill story.
