The $35.7 million effort is expected to finish in fall 2028.

Officials and the Central Park Conservancy have broken ground on a project intended to reduce flooding in Harlem and East Harlem, amNewYork reported October 26. The plan connects three northern park water bodies so water can circulate and be reused.

Before a forecast storm, the system would lower Harlem Meer to make room for rainfall. Officials project that it will keep about 132 million gallons out of local sewers and conserve roughly 175 million gallons of drinking water each year.

The E, J and Z hub was renamed at an October 23 ceremony marking the college’s 60th anniversary.

Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer Station is now Jamaica Center–York College Station following Friday’s official unveiling, QNS reported. The transportation hub serves the E, J and Z subway lines alongside several bus routes.

MTA chief Janno Lieber said the designation recognizes the college as an important local destination. York established its permanent home in Jamaica in 1986 after operating without a permanent campus.
