Five fledglings were seen Thursday evening, but bird experts warn they still depend on their parents for food.

State conservation officials delivered a cease-and-desist letter Friday after construction resumed at a barn owl nesting site on the Upper West Side.

All five young owls were accounted for the previous evening. Bird experts say they can fly but have not yet learned to hunt, leaving them dependent on parental feeding.

The closure supports track and switch replacement for a modern signal system.

Free buses will replace A trains between Rockaway Boulevard and Ozone Park–Lefferts Boulevard from November 7 until early November 16.

Trains that normally end at Lefferts will run to Howard Beach–JFK Airport instead. Further weekend and overnight outages are planned as the line replaces its aging signals.

The requested commercial overlay would allow a supermarket and cafe alongside the planned affordable housing.

A zoning application for 330 and 360 West Fordham Road would permit 15,000 square feet of commercial space at Fordham Landing South in University Heights.

The developer's proposal includes a supermarket and waterfront cafe. Housing can already be built under the site's residential zoning; the additional approval concerns commercial uses.
