A lawsuit seeks limits on early deliveries and work stretching toward midnight.
Chinatown residents and neighborhood groups have sued the city over expanded construction hours at the new jail, Gothamist reported October 24. The plaintiffs cite disrupted sleep, dust concerns and interference with local activities.
According to the lawsuit described in that report, permits allow weekday work from 6 a.m. to midnight, Saturday work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and truck deliveries from 4 to 7 a.m. The plaintiffs seek a court order limiting after-hours work. City Hall told Gothamist it would respond in court.
