Published · New York time

Electrical and flood-protection work is planned for the North Shore facility serving roughly 200,000 residents.

Construction on a $185 million modernization of Port Richmond’s wastewater plant began October 21, according to the city. The project will upgrade electrical distribution equipment and renovate mechanical rooms, the control room and offices.

Flood-protection work includes reinforced walls, raised windowsills and deployable barriers. The city expects completion in summer 2029 and is using a single design-build contract to combine engineering and construction.
