NYFE Summary

The Army Corps of Engineers used this building as an officers’ dining hall and club. Its castle-shaped front echoes the Corps’ emblem. After later Army and Job Corps use, local preservationists restored the vacant building for exhibitions and community programs.

Inside, displays draw on photographs and records of residents, military service and community life. The Native Bayside exhibit includes archaeological objects recovered in Queens and a model of an excavation.
