NYFE Summary
A nine-year restoration led by Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts turned the former town hall into a performing and visual arts center. Its spaces include a theater, gallery, garden and rooms used for classes and rehearsals.
The programs reflect the many communities of Queens through music, dance, exhibitions and workshops. Jazz is a continuing focus, with performances and jam sessions connected to the borough’s history of jazz musicians. Visitors coming for a show can also see the restored civic interior. The building has a lift and public elevator, although the theater balcony is not wheelchair accessible.
