NYFE Summary

The building housed the Whitney Museum, then temporary presentations by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Frick Collection. Sotheby’s now uses the galleries for art exhibitions and auctions.

Upper floors project outward above a recessed glass base. Irregular, angled windows interrupt the granite walls. A concrete bridge crosses a sunken court to the entrance, while rough concrete surfaces continue inside.
