NYFE Summary

The bank served the German immigrant community that once gave the surrounding district the name Kleindeutschland, or Little Germany. Its headquarters stood at a busy intersection of the Bowery and Spring Street.

Heavy stone blocks frame the arched lower windows and rounded corner entrance. Above them, closely spaced windows rise to a projecting copper cornice. The facade provides a visible record of the neighborhood's banking history.
