NYFE Summary

The apartment hotel offered residents shared dining and housekeeping instead of a separate household staff. Writer Maxim Gorky stayed here in 1906, but the manager expelled him and his partner after newspapers attacked their unmarried relationship.

Red brick walls rise above a pale stone base. Rounded window bays, leaf patterns, metal railings and broad curved gables distinguish the corner. Changes to the ground floor turned former dining space into shops.
