NYFE Summary

The museum began collecting in 1981. Its holdings preserve the objects used to make, promote and show moving images, from optical toys to film cameras, costumes and video games. The core exhibition, Behind the Screen, brings many of these materials together.

Visitors can try sound and animation activities and see how technical choices change a scene. The Jim Henson Exhibition looks at puppets, artwork and the work of Henson’s collaborators. A separate screening program presents films in the museum’s theaters.
