NYFE Summary

City Hall still serves the government it was built to house. Its Governor's Room has also served as a reception space and museum of civic history since the early nineteenth century. The three connected rooms contain portraits and historic furniture, including a desk used by George Washington.

The city's guided tours introduce the building's history and interior. The rotunda, City Council Chamber and Governor's Room show different sides of its public role, from daily government to formal receptions. Interior visits require an advance tour reservation.
