NYFE Summary
The newspaper kept publishing here while a new building rose around the framing of its earlier headquarters. That unusual construction allowed the presses and newsroom to keep working on the same site. The paper later moved to Times Square, and Pace acquired the property for classrooms.
Tall rows of rounded arches divide the limestone fronts. Small columns, carved leaves and other details reward a closer look from the sidewalk. The top was enlarged after the newspaper’s departure, replacing an earlier sloping roof.
