NYFE Summary

Members of the Morse family developed this as a tall office building. It was associated with relatives of Samuel Morse, rather than serving as the inventor's home. Fire-resistant construction was an important part of its original design.

Bands of dark and red brick give the lower tower a patterned surface. The upper section records a later enlargement, with a different treatment above the earlier arches. The changes can be read from the sidewalk without entering the building.
