NYFE Summary

The building replaced the former World newspaper offices after a fatal fire in 1882. Its designers used improved fire-resistant construction and extensive architectural terra cotta in the replacement.

Red brick and sculpted terra cotta cover the street fronts. Projecting corners, columns and layered cornices give the walls depth, while a light court opens into the building’s C-shaped plan.
