NYFE Summary

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows built a home for lodge meetings, reading rooms and education. The mutual-aid organization later moved uptown. Printing-press manufacturer R. Hoe & Company adapted the hall for business and manufacturing.

Tall fluted pilasters rise above a heavily marked stone base. A later brick roof addition replaced the original dome and pediments. Its chimneys and steep upper windows show how the institutional building changed for industrial use.
