NYFE Summary

Federal relief money helped the city build this complex during the Depression. The project provided both jobs and a place for neighborhood recreation. It was part of the group of large outdoor pools opened across the city in the same summer.

A low, U-shaped bathhouse frames the approach to the pools. Pale concrete bands and a line of windows emphasize its horizontal shape. Raised brick patterns provide much of its decoration.
