NYFE Summary

Before this branch had its own building, a free library operated at Trinity Congregation Church across the street. Librarians later taught English to immigrants and helped children form reading clubs. Hebrew and Yiddish books and programs became another part of its work.

The red brick front has tall windows outlined in pale stone. An extension added more room for books and children, leaving the entrance off center. Today, reading rooms and public programs continue the building’s community role.
