NYFE Summary

Urban renewal cleared the site for a development that combined university housing with a middle-income cooperative. Two towers housed New York University faculty; the third housed cooperative residents. The project replaced the earlier pattern of small city blocks with a large shared site.

The three towers turn around an open central space in a pinwheel arrangement. Repeated concrete grids project from their central cores. Their placement changes the gaps and overlapping surfaces seen from the surrounding streets.
