Bellerose

See Queens County Farm Museum’s surviving agricultural landscape or arrange an art visit to the Living Museum at Creedmoor. These distinct places connect Bellerose’s mapped area with farming, institutional reuse and public learning.

Understanding Bellerose

The restored Adriance Farmhouse began as a three-room Dutch farmhouse in 1772. Queens Farm interprets a tract that changed from a colonial homestead to a truck farm supplying the growing city. Barns, fields and the farmhouse make that history visible.

The museum’s founders secured landmark designation in 1975 and completed restoration of the farmhouse in 1986. Its present public role combines a historic site with active agriculture and education. The wider residential setting remains distinct from the farm itself.

The Living Museum adds a different kind of institutional history. In 1983, psychologist Janos Marton and artist Bolek Greczynski began transforming a building on the Creedmoor campus into an art studio and display space. The museum presents work made by participants at the psychiatric center. Its public role is an arranged art visit within a working campus.

  • Bellerose Library

    250-06 Hillside Avenue

This separate community stop offers books, computer access and public programs. Its current calendar can supply an indoor activity when the farm is not the right choice for the weather. QPL lists wheelchair access.

  • The Living Museum

Creedmoor Building 75, 80-45 Winchester Boulevard

NYS Office of Mental Health specifies visits by appointment: call 718-264-3490. Ask the museum for the correct meeting point and arrangements. General hospital visiting hours are separate from museum admission. The operator publishes a Queens Village postal address, while this campus point falls in NYFE’s Bellerose outline.

Planning a visit

Arrange the Living Museum visit before traveling and obtain directions to its meeting point. The farm and library are separate destinations.

Check the farm calendar for ticketed days, tours and group arrangements. Contact the Living Museum before traveling; an art appointment does not authorize wandering through hospital or residential buildings. Check the library’s hours independently.
