About Marble Hill
The 1895 ship canal separated the area from Manhattan Island. Filling the old creek later joined it to the mainland, while Marble Hill remained part of Manhattan borough.
The playground and neighboring Marble Hill Houses appear together on a historical city site plan. Today?s street map shows the park, housing and a step street within a short distance of the rail stations. The parent statistical area crosses borough lines; this guide uses a smaller approximate outline.
