North Riverdale adds a 130-bed men’s shelter

Westhab’s center at Broadway and 262nd Street combines temporary accommodation with housing support.

Westhab marked the opening of the Van Cortlandt Men’s Rapid Rehousing Center at Broadway and 262nd Street in North Riverdale on September 25. The newly built facility has 130 beds, according to an October 22 Bronx Times report.

The organization told the newspaper that the center would provide employment counseling and maintain staff and security around the clock. Westhab describes the facility as a place where men can stabilize their circumstances and work toward permanent housing.
