Edenwald’s community centers reopen after renovations

Published · New York time

Restored senior, youth and child-care spaces return to a campus serving nearly 5,000 residents.

The city marked the reopening of Edenwald Houses’ community, child-care and senior centers on October 22. The senior center had been closed for more than 20 years and was renamed for longtime tenant association president Walter J. McNeill.

Plans for the senior center include meals and transportation support from R.A.I.N., plus a computer lab and commercial kitchen. Mosholu Montefiore Community Center will operate the community center’s youth programming. Susan Wagner Day Care received play-area and accessibility improvements.
