Serbian voters faced two-hour waits in Midtown

Published · New York time

Sunday’s consulate voting drew a line along West 45th Street.

Serbian citizens waited about two hours at their Midtown consulate to vote in Serbia’s parliamentary election on Sunday, October 25, Gothamist reported. The line ran along West 45th Street and stretched roughly half a block toward Fifth Avenue just after noon.

Voting opened at 2 a.m. and was scheduled to end at 3 p.m. New York time, matching Serbia’s local polling hours. A consulate employee told Gothamist that answering questions required authorization from Belgrade; Serbia’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to the outlet.
