Midtown and Times Square

Choose a Midtown visit around modern art, Rockefeller Center or the public plazas and theater district at Times Square. Plan the day around the museum, attraction or performance you want to enter.

Understanding Midtown and Times Square

MoMA was created in 1929 by patrons who wanted an institution devoted to modern art. Its collections span painting, design, film and other media.

Rockefeller Center presents historic art and architecture alongside its observation deck and landscaped Channel Gardens. Looking at the complex from the plazas is a different experience from a booked tour or trip upstairs.

Places to explore

  • Museum of Modern Art

    West 53rd Street

Choose the Manhattan museum at 11 West 53rd Street. MoMA PS1 is a separate Queens institution. Current museum tickets include galleries and special exhibitions, but films, shops and restaurants have their own arrangements.

  • Rockefeller Center

    Midtown

Look at art and architecture around the complex or choose a published guided tour. Top of the Rock and rink sessions are separately ticketed experiences.

  • Times Square

    Broadway theater district

Use the public plazas to see the electronic billboards and operator-listed public art. For a show, choose the exact theater and ticket.

Planning a visit

Choose the museum, Rockefeller Center attraction or theater before setting out, then follow that venue's entrance instructions.

MoMA inspects bags and has item restrictions. Times Square Alliance provides neighborhood and Broadway accessibility resources; consult the chosen venue's information for your event.
