Upper Manhattan businesses must sign waste contracts or face maximum rates
DSNY offers an English-language online information session on November 19, from 11 a.m. to noon.
The Department of Sanitation tells businesses that produce commercial waste in Upper Manhattan to sign with a zone-authorized private carter before November 30, 2026.
The area includes Inwood, Fort George, Hudson Heights, Sugar Hill, Hamilton Heights, Central Harlem, Manhattanville and Morningside Heights. Sign-up for this phase of the city's Commercial Waste Zones program began October 1.
Businesses that miss the deadline will be assigned a carter and a contract at the maximum allowable rate. DSNY links to a zone map, the authorized carters and a calculator showing maximum collection prices.
