Curtis students add harbor readings to river records

Microscopes and fish-identification exercises joined the shoreline lesson near St. George.

On October 6, students from Curtis High School tested water at the waterfront by Staten Island’s September 11th Memorial Park. Their measurements included acidity, dissolved oxygen, turbidity and salinity.

The school took part in Day in the Life of the Hudson & Harbor for a second year. Observations from participating groups are compiled into a shared snapshot of the estuary.
