NYFE Summary

These connected towers brought fur manufacturers and showrooms together in the growing Garment District. Fur workers gathered outside during the 1926 strike that won higher minimum wages and a forty-hour week.

Carved figures at the entrances refer directly to the trade. In one, a man appears to feed a beaver; in another, he inspects its pelt. Patterned terra-cotta and the stepped tower shapes carry the decoration above street level.
