NYFE Summary
This building linked more than local telephone calls. Its equipment handled long-distance and transoceanic connections, radio-network signals, typed messages and photographs sent over wires. Repeated enlargements brought these services together in one large communications center.
Long brick strips emphasize the tower's height, while the upper floors step back in stages. Lighter parapets trace parts of the roofline. The enlarged building rises behind the lower corner section, making its different stages visible from the surrounding streets.
