NYFE Summary

The bank moved to Wall Street in 1796, becoming the first bank on the street. This later headquarters used references to early American architecture to connect a large financial institution with that longer history.

Rows of windows rise to a small cupola and eagle at the top. The restrained exterior differs from the heavily carved banks on nearby corners. The building can be understood as a former bank headquarters without assuming that a museum or public banking hall operates inside.
