NYFE Summary

Producer Winthrop Ames joined Lee Shubert to build a smaller house for intimate drama. They named it for actor Edwin Booth. Ames’s interest in European theaters helped shape the room and its stage.

Its curved corner faces Shubert Alley, linking the exterior to the neighboring Shubert Theatre. Scratched plaster decoration, known as sgraffito, covers parts of the facade. The two buildings share a design but contain separate auditoriums.
