NYFE Summary

The bank moved here after decades at the Bowery’s Canal Street corner. It later merged with other banks and became part of the institution that preceded Citibank. A separate entrance on Grand Street served tenants in the upper offices.

Light marble, rounded window tops and a heavy cornice give the building a firm outline. Copper ornament runs along the roof edge. Its broad windows contrast with the columns and pediments of the neighboring Bowery Savings Bank.
