NYFE Summary

The bank fitted its building onto an L-shaped site. A narrow entrance faces the Bowery, while a wider front extends along Grand Street. Both fronts use classical columns and sculpture influenced by the architecture of Chicago’s 1893 world’s fair.

A high arched doorway stands below a clock flanked by reclining figures and lions. The larger Grand Street portico uses four columns. Walking around the corner reveals how the designers connected these unequal street fronts.
