NYFE Summary

Brooklyn built this school while it was still an independent city. Its public high school received the kind of monumental design used for the city’s major civic institutions. The large building presents different compositions on three streets.

The Marcy Avenue front is framed by unlike corner towers: one round and one square. Deep entrance arches, gabled windows and carved terracotta continue along the side streets. The tall square tower rises above the roof and anchors the corner.
