NYFE Summary

The association formed to bring together people interested in art and literature. Its name came from the original limit of one hundred members. Poet William Cullen Bryant and painter Asher B. Durand were among its founders.

The large arched entrance sits below a central window that was first designed as an open loggia. Wreaths connect round openings with the windows beneath them, and a stone balustrade finishes the roofline.
