NYFE Summary

English-speaking Lutherans built this stone church after disputes over the language used in worship. The congregation later became Episcopal. The building then passed to a Catholic parish, which served successive Irish, Italian and Chinese immigrant communities.

Small fieldstones surround the pointed windows, and a bell tower divides the front gable. The parish continues to offer worship in Cantonese, Mandarin and English. Its history follows the changing population around Mott Street.
