NYFE Summary

This congregation grew from a mission for sailors arriving at the East River docks. It later bought an existing Baptist church on Oliver Street. A state law in 1867 placed the property in trust and required its pews to remain free.

The compact entrance has two Ionic columns set inside a plain rectangular front. A low triangular pediment spans the facade. Long windows along the sides bring light to the main floor and the galleries above.
