NYFE Summary

The society commissioned a headquarters that could also teach visitors about colonial domestic design. Its front drew on the former Colonel John McEver house on Wall Street. The design shortened that house’s five-window arrangement to four to fit this lot.

Red brick, pale stone bands and a carved doorway combine Dutch and English colonial references. A steep roof carries dormer windows and a balustrade. The building also holds historical objects, a genealogical library and rooms used for educational programs.
