NYFE Summary

The city built this large office complex to bring agencies out of rented rooms scattered around Manhattan. City Hall had become too crowded to hold them. A broad arched passage allowed Chambers Street to continue through the building.

The tower rises to a cupola beneath the gilded figure Civic Fame. Centre 360 now brings reserved groups to its panoramic balcony. The building’s namesake worked here as City Clerk and Manhattan Borough President before becoming mayor.
