NYFE Summary
Broadway's Automobile Row once displayed cars where carriage businesses had operated. These two neighbors served different firms. Demarest made carriage and automobile bodies, while Peerless sold luxury cars and used the upper floors for storage and repairs.
General Motors later joined the buildings for its first major corporate headquarters. Their pale terra-cotta fronts look related, but the ornament differs. The Peerless building wraps around its corner neighbor and rises to a small tower.
