NYFE Summary

This was a showroom for cut glass, silverware, clocks and chandeliers. It became the first New York store with a passenger elevator designed for customers. The combination of metal construction and easy travel between floors anticipated later commercial buildings.

Both street fronts use repeated cast-iron columns and arched windows. Their pattern recalls the arcades of a Venetian library. The corner view makes it possible to compare the two matching facades.
