NYFE Summary
The Empire State Building replaced the original Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Construction moved quickly, with the frame rising by several floors a week. Photographs and displays in the visitor exhibitions explain the workers, materials and organization behind that pace. King Kong brought the tower to movie audiences soon after it opened.
The observation areas provide different experiences. The 86th-floor deck is outdoors and wraps around the tower. The 102nd-floor observatory is enclosed, with windows extending from floor to ceiling. Tickets differ in the floors they include, so choose the viewing areas you want before booking.
