NYFE Summary

An engine company and a ladder company shared this firehouse. The plan gave the engine company two apparatus bays and the ladder company one. Their move here helped serve a lower Manhattan business district filling with taller buildings.

The three arched doorways still make that arrangement visible. Above them, bands of pale stone cross the brick walls beneath a broad cornice. The company names are carved over the apparatus entrances.
