NYFE Summary

The building rose straight from the street without the setbacks used by many later skyscrapers. Its bulk and shadow contributed to the debate over light and air that led to the city’s 1916 zoning resolution.

An H-shaped plan brought windows into the deep site. At street level, large arches and heavy stonework support long, uninterrupted walls of office windows.
